If you missed the Bourbon in March, don't miss the Vodka on June 14.
The “Run for the Roses" tasting held on March 29 was a resounding success. Twenty-six people attended and sampled 5 select bourbons and enjoyed “Burgoo”, an original Kentucky Derby dish. The evening, hosted at the home of Gary Armstrong, was conducted by Susan Cashin, an accredited sommelier.
Attendees learned about bourbons.
Lee Flagg and Carl Pingry took
home bottles of Jefferson and Sam Houston, very small batch
Bourbons, by correctly answering questions
posed by the sommelier. Sheila
Quinn and Kevin Juhl won gift certificates, courtesy of Dot’s and
Tres Amigos. Thanks to
Monika for donating them to the tasting.
The evening was topped off with a Mint Julep paired with a Derby Pie prepared as a tartlet. The Mint Juleps were such a big hit that a second round was served! The Fine Spirits Tasting committee,Karen Sleighter, Gary Armstrong, Eric Landrum, Sharon Edwards, and John & Helene Baran thank everyone for coming. A special thanks to Chris Vrba who ran the kitchen for us. We had so much fun, we are tasting again! FINE SPIRITS TASTING: Don't miss the Vodka on June 14.
