Panorama, BC Canada

February 21 - 28, 2009

Panorama is one of the premier resorts in the Canadian Rockies, and yet it still retains an intimate and friendly feel.  It offers a village atmosphere and skiing on long groomed trails. The ski area is located two hours southwest of Banff, on the warmer side of the Rockies. You will find an annual snowfall of around 15 feet. But just in case, Panorama has snow making that covers 40 percent of its 2,847 acres of ski-able terrain.

A quad chairlift to the summit provides access to one of the largest verticals in North America (4,000ft / 1,200m).  Taynton Bowl, the biggest terrain expansion in the history of the resort offers lift access to almost 1,000 acres of glades, chutes and gullies, all former heli-skiing terrain. Both Skiing and Ski Canada magazines have rated the bowl as the "Best New Terrain."

Panorama is located on the edge of the largest heli-skiing region in the world and R.K. Heli-Ski, located at Panorama offers day excursions via helicopter into back-country powder.

After a day on the slopes, sink into the soothing waters of the giant, slope-side, Panorama Springs Hot Pools. Soak and stargaze before heading into the pedestrian village to check out a variety of family activities, restaurants and après-ski options. Panorama has the best mountain-side village in the Canadian Rockies: a pedestrian village with a variety of restaurants and après ski options. The village is built for walking, with dining and shopping not very far from our condo.

Nearby is the town of Invermere, in British Columbia, which offers shopping, dining and hard-hitting ice-hockey. Invermere was established in 1810 as a trading post. Situated along the sandy shores of
Windermere Lake, this community offers a full spectrum of outdoor activities.

The stats: Vertical drop of 3,938 ft; top elevation 7,877 ft; 2,847 ski-able acres; 120 trails; 20% green terrain, 55% blue and 25% black.
