Northstar, CA

March 14-20, 2010 (6-Days)

New Destination for Austin Skiers

We’ve had fun on day trips to Northstar, but since this Tahoe gem is quietly becoming the Deer Valley of the Far West and was ranked No. 8 for family programs last year by the readers of Ski magazine, we’re making it this years’ Spring Break destination.  Customer service and quality are paramount here. Located near Lake Tahoe’s north shore, Northstar is halfway between the historic town of Truckee, Calif. and the lakefront town of Kings Beach, only 10 minutes to each.

The Skiing:
Pine-flanked ribbons of perfect corduroy
offer views of a scenic alpine basin. The resort is situated entirely below tree line, well-protected from the winds that often hammer the rest of the Sierra crest. When it’s snowing and blowing, Northstar’s long boulevards are the north shore’s best place to ski. Its slopes continue to be pampered with up to 95 percent of the mountain manicured nightly. In addition to those well groomed cruisers, there are long backside bump runs and sunny decks. Northstar is a big mountain with 2904 acres of skiing, about the same size as Steamboat, that are 13% beginner, 60% intermediate and 27% advanced.  The longest run is a quad burning 2.9 miles. Its terrain is alluring, with exhilarating pitches on Lookout and superb hidden tree skiing for powder hounds.

Don’t miss the opportunity to take advantage of the complimentary lessons for intermediate and advanced skiers and boarders on weekday afternoons.

You will also have priority lift line access and complimentary overnight storage of your skis or snowboards at the Village.

The Village:

The Village at Northstar offers resort guests access to 150,000 square feet of retail space featuring 35 unique shops, galleries and dining options. There is a free open-air ice rink. For additional dining and shopping, take the Tahoe Area Regional Transit (TART) bus to Truckee for only $1.75 each way or $3.50 for an all day pass.  TART can also take you to Crystal Bay, NV where there are casinos, restaurants and night life

Transportation:

The group will fly non-stop to San Francisco and then a 3 hour bus ride to Northstar.  With the bus originating and returning at the San Francisco airport, this is a great opportunity to spend some extra time in one of America’s favorite vacation spots.

Package Price:

This trip includes the 5-Day lift ticket.  The price of the lift ticket cannot be subtracted from the trip price.
