A New Destination for Austin Skiers
Ski In/Out Lodging with Breakfast Included
Choice of Hotel Rooms or Condos

Schweitzer is located in the Selkirk Mountains of northern Idaho about 50 miles from the Canadian border. Since its beginning in 1963, the resort has transformed into a destination lauded for superb tree skiing, outstanding snow and dramatic views.

The Skiing:

With 2,900 skiable acres, Schweitzer is about the same size as Steamboat, Winter Park, Keystone, Northstar and Whitefish.  There are now 9 different lifts with lots of capacity to keep the lines short. With 20% beginner, 40% intermediate and 40% advanced/expert terrain, there is plenty of variety to accommodate skiers of all levels. 2,400 vertical feet and an average annual snowfall of 300+ inches makes exploring this terrain a lot of fun.

The view from the very top is nothing short of spectacular. Once the realm of Hudson Bay Company trappers, who snow-shoed up the mountain’s steep slopes, the exhilarating experience of standing at “the top of the world” is now easily accessible to all, thanks to a modern high-speed chairlift.  From this vantage point, one can enjoy a panoramic vista that stretches into three states and Canada and includes thousands of square miles of verdant green forest, three mountain ranges, and the vast and shimmering turquoise expanse of Lake Pend Oreille laid out before you in all of its magnificence-a Kodak moment not to be missed.

Last year, Skiing Magazine named Schweitzer to its Top 25 Ski Resorts. Schweitzer is also #3 for tree skiing.

Sandpoint:

Located on the shore of beautiful Lake Pend Oreille and 11 miles from Schweitzer Mountain ski resort, Sandpoint is a lively community of about 7,000 people. It is the ultimate laid back mountain town with a community chockfull of genuine folks. Unpretentious in every way, the locals treat their guests as they would treat each other; with respect. Incorporated in 1901, Sandpoint was built on the rich heritage of the railroad and timber industries. In the 1970s came an influx of artists and musicians, creating an ongoing legacy of arts and cultural events. Today tourism, retail, service and entrepreneurial independent businesses all contribute to a downtown district that attracts visitors as well as residents for dining, shopping and community events.

Transportation:

Schweitzer is a 2 hour bus ride from Spokane, Washington. We currently have reservations on Air Alaska through Seattle. Flights may change in late July when Southwest opens their schedule beyond January 6.
