A new chairlift on Topping Creek has streamlined the skier flow and access to Grey Mountain; and added 7 new intermediate runs over 300 acres of terrain. On a normal day, Red Mountain boasts just one skier per acre! With 300” of annual snowfall, 2,919ft vertical, wide-open groomers, 360-degree views, and the BEST tree runs in BC, it is no wonder RED was voted “Most Underrated Resort” by Skiing Magazine. 49% is beginner/intermediate terrain; 51% is advanced to expert.

THE TOWN / VILLAGES

Rossland, BC, and Vicinity

 

The town of Rossland is a short 5 minute shuttle ride from the mountain. Built in an ancient volcanic valley, the town dates back to 1897. Once a booming mining community, today it’s an incorporated town of 4,000. In summer the area is a playground for bikers and hikers. In winter snowboarders and skiers come from around the world to enjoy the pristine snow and marvelous skiing. Rossland’s turn of the century Main Street features quaint shops, a museum and family run businesses. During ski season reservations are recommended at the town’s 20 bistros and restaurants.

THE LODGING

The Josie Hotel

“The only way to wake up closer to the slopes would be to sleep on a chairlift”

The Josie is a small boutique hotel offering a mix of 106 contemporary rooms and suites, steps away from the chairlifts. The hotel offers full bell and valet service and ski concierge to store gear. Rooms have mini fridges, Nespresso coffee makers, irons & boards, and terry cloth robes. A full service restaurant is open daily from 7am-9pm.

The hotel has a limited number of free outside parking spots and more free parking down the hill by the Hostel. The Josie also offers indoor heated parking for $20/day.

The Velvet Restaurant & Lounge

The Velvet is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, serving guests and locals a taste of regional cuisine. Two mountainside patios and a comfortable indoor lounge offer seasonal cocktails and local brews.

TRANSPORTAION AND AIRLINE SCHEDULE

 

The full trip includes round trip air on Southwest Airlines and ground transportation from Austin to Red Mountain, BC.  We have a morning flight to Spokane (GEG). From Spokane, we board a private charter to the mountain resort (approximately 2 1/2 hour ride). A 1 hour grocery stop is planned.  A free resort shuttle provides transportation between the mountain and the town of Rossland.
